Sylvia Ann Brannon
Sylvia Ann Brannon, a resident of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away on March 5, 2026, just days before her 83rd birthday. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on March 13, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Royce and Mayme Ballenger.
Known affectionately to all as Ann, she was the true epitome of southern charm and grace. A loving wife of fifty-nine years to Marshall Brannon, Ann was a tireless pillar of strength and support for her entire family. Together, Marshall and Ann raised two children: Stephen and David. Ann was a devoted mother, always there to offer guidance, love, and a gentle sense of humor. Ann cherished family gatherings, and her presence at holidays and celebrations brought warmth and joy to those around her. Her last conscious day was one of her family together in celebration.
Ann had many passions in life, including cooking, gardening and working in her beautiful flower beds. She actively participated in her church, and was also a rare fan of BOTH the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers in order to maintain peace, as each of her boys carried a torch for his own NFL team.
Ann is survived by her loving sons, Stephen Brannon of Mechanicsville, VA, and David Brannon of Harrisonburg, VA, as well as her daughter-in-law Valeria Brannon of Mechanicsville. She is also survived by grandson Sinan Brannon of Amman, Jordan. Ann was a woman who lived her faith with humility and love. Those who knew Ann will remember her gentle spirit, her deep-rooted faith in Jesus, and her unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered. Her life was spent largely helping and serving others, and the effect she had on the lives of others will never be forgotten. Her loving nature left a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.
A funeral service to celebrate Ann's life will be held at 10 a.m. on March 13, 2026, at Walnut Grove Baptist Church, 7046 Cold Harbor Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects. Interment to follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park followed by a reception at Walnut Grove Baptist Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
