Tanya Wohner Obituary

WOHNER, Tanya Louise, left the earthly realm on January 6, 2021, in Richmond, Va. Daughter of an Army colonel from Mississippi and a Russian ballet dancer, Tanya sought adventure from a young age. She was ushered into adulthood by marriage and motherhood, but Tanya's youthful spontaneity was notorious in her Worthington, Ohio community. Her three kids were convinced that Tanya's primary objective in life was to embarrass them. Amateur clown. "Chinese Firedrill" director. Neighborhood kid canoe expedition leader. Public dancer. These are only a few of the roles she played to achieve that objective. Her child-raising mission accomplished, Tanya's next chapter was equally unconventional. She combined her exceptional cooking skills, her nursing training and her love of scuba diving to forge a career in the Caribbean as a live-aboard chef on a charter dive sailboat. She eventually made her way back to Virginia, where she spread joy and cherished life

Tanya was a model of joy for those fortunate enough to know her. She was beloved by dogs and kids. Tanya viewed life as a gift. She only wanted enough to be able to give to others. No matter her circumstances, she saw and spread happiness. The loved ones she left behind will always remember one of her greatest gifts to the world: her laughter. She is dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, brothers, cousin/sister and dear friends. But we all feel blessed to have had her. And we know she is not resting in peace. She is loving, laughing, and joyously living in peace.
