Thomas Gill Obituary

Thomas Wayne Gill, 47, died in his home on December 6, 2003. He was a much beloved and most devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his three loving children, Travis, Kuri, and Marshi; his beloved wife, Karen; his parents, C.B. "Sonny" and Beverly Gill; and his siblings, Lynn Lamm, Robyn Enroughty, Scott Emerson, Richard, Bobby, and Jimmy Gill; and lifelong friends, Blair Roller, David and Janice Headden. Tom's passions include his love for music, his deep respect and understanding of the environment, and great integrity of spirit. He shared his love of music, his remarkable voice and talented songwriting with family and friends, and with the community, most recently as lead singer of the band "Wolftown". He devoted his working life to passive solar energy building and many people were blessed by his skill and vision. He raised responsible, gifted, loving children and his passions live on in them. His sweet voice, keen mind, loyal heart, and passion for life are lost to us, but his memory will live on. Visitation will be held at Beulah Presbyterian Church on Friday, December 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. His memorial service will be Saturday, December 13 at 1 p.m. also at the church, which is easily accessible from Rt. 156 in Mechanicsville. The Bon Secours Hospice Team were remarkably kind and generous and the family requests donations be made to this organization, or Crater Community Hospice. Tom's youth and his struggle with his illness remind us that every day is future. Tom faced his illness with courage and lived each day to the fullest.

I just recently learned of Tommys passing. We attended high school together and shared a mutual love of music and playing our acoustic guitars. We sang and played a John Denver duet in one of our high school talent shows. I remember feeling so honored and humbled when he invited me to sing with him. He had such a sweet voice that matched his demeanor and personality. I never heard him utter an unkind word to or about anyone. Although we lost touch after high school, I never forgot his kind and gentle spirit. My sincerest condolences to his family. He now sings with the angels in Heaven.

I really wish I was able to meet my grandfather. At least I know that before he died he knew I was going to be born and I was going to be a girl. My dad said that it was his happiest moment since he had been sick

My heart goes out to Tom's children and family. He was a great fellow, generous man, and fine craftsman. He did specialty work for my mother and for me for many years. It was a privilege to know him and work with him. He will be sorely missed.

Tom was a skilled craftsman and a kind soul whose work I had the honor to see. I enjoyed our interaction over the years and remember his easy laugh and good nature. Our family mourns with his.

I had the pleasure of working with and knowing Tom for many years, and though we didn't always see eye to eye, I will always cherish the things I did learn from him, his wonderful music and all the good times we had together. Nothing could ever diminish the presence of his energy in the world.
