Timothy James Korman

KORMAN, Timothy James, passed away in a flash October 14, 2023. He was 71. He was preceded by his parents William Milan Korman and Susan Ukrop Korman and is survived by his loving spouse of 43 years Lona Korman; his beloved children Zach, Kenzie and Luke; grandchildren Hugo, Anastasia, and Zena; and siblings Bill, Linda, Mark and Sharon. He touched a community of family and friends as deep as the ocean. He is dearly missed.

Tim enjoyed life and lived each and every moment to their fullest, enriching the lives of everyone he touched. He adored his family, cherished his friends, and guided so many. He was patient and kind, humble yet assertive, a competitor striving for the horizon, but ready to crack a joke if he fell short. He was a man of faith, principle and eternal optimism. He knew who he was and where he was going. He was the person you call in a crisis knowing he would be there and have the answer. He was our rock.

Tim lived for his family and prioritized them above all else. He invested the time celebrating our victories, helping us recover from our failures, counseling us through adversity and even cleaning up our messes. He made sure we appreciated life's most precious commodity, Time, and we are truly blessed to have enjoyed so much of his, one of the singularly greatest men to have ever graced this earth.

Tim enjoyed an accomplished business career. He was a CPA and practiced for several years before becoming a founding member of insurance broker Hilb, Rogal and Hobbs in 1982. After the formation of HRH, he served as Chief Financial Officer and then as Senior Vice President and head of Mergers and Acquisitions. He was the top M&A executive in his industry, completing 150+ acquisitions during his tenure at HRH. His service to HRH helped propel the company to 8th largest insurance broker in the world and a member of the New York Stock Exchange. Tim retired in 2008 after the successful acquisition of HRH by Willis Group Holdings. Tim was the moral compass of the firm, praised by his colleagues for his ethics, honesty, faith and his very dry sense of humor.

A celebration of life will be held, 11 a.m., Saturday, November 11th at Popular Springs Baptist Church, 5270 Charles City Rd. Richmond, VA 23231.The service will also be broadcast live at www.facebook.com/PoplarSpringsBaptistChurchVA/
