Vivian Jones Obituary

Vivian Starnes Jones, born March 28, 1935, died on September 5, 2024. She was preceded in death by her beloved sweetie, Thomas W. Jones, Jr., her parents, Bartley M. Starnes and Julia Bowles Starnes, and all eight of her siblings.
Viv (or "Nan" as she was affectionately known) is survived by her large and heartbroken family: son, Thomas W. Jones, III and wife Suzy, daughters, Lynne Jones Blain and husband Stuart, Lisa Jones Crowley, and Laurie Jones Owens and husband Bruce; grandchildren, Rachel Jones Randall and husband Dane, Mary Jones Sharpe and husband Andre, Alison Jones, Thomas W. "Wes" Jones, IV and wife Maggie, Thomas Wilson Blain and wife Stephanie, Andrew Stuart Blain and wife Erin, John McMann "Mac" Blain and wife Abigail, Corie Beth Crowley, Kenneth Allan Crowley and wife Bekah, and Peyton Sawyer Owens; great grandchildren, Finn Randall, Camilla Randall, Bailey Simms, Amirah Sharpe, Keandre Sharpe, Nella Blain and a great grandson due this month.
Viv was an exceptionally warm and loving presence in all our lives who took tremendous joy in being with her family in any way she could: watching sporting events, sitting on the beach, pickling cukes, gardening, listening to music or especially baking. Each of us has special memories of times spent with her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the James River Association at thejamesriver.org/donate or honoring our parents' memory with a gift to Randolph Macon College, Gift Processing, P.O. Box 5005, Ashland, VA 23005.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

My fondest memory of both your parents was when we had dinner together in Park City, Utah. They were an absolute delight to visit with. I remember how very proud they were when speaking about their family. You took excellent care of her through your love and devotion. Our thoughts are with you and Stu. May she rest in peace
