Wilbur Burton Obituary
May 22, 1929 - July 24, 2024
Wilbur Wainwright Burton, Sr., Calverton, Virginia, died on July 24, 2024 at Fauquier Hospital. He was born on May 22, 1929 in Amelia, Virginia, and was the son of Willie R. Burton and Ruth W. Burton who predeceased him.
Wilbur was a lifelong dairy farmer and operated Wainbur Farm in Calverton for over seventy-five years with his three sons.
During his lifetime, he was a member of the Catlett-Calverton Ruritan Club, John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District, Board of Directors of Fauquier-Prince William Southern States, and from 1988-2000 represented Cedar Run District as a supervisor on the Board of Supervisors of Fauquier County.
Wilbur was a member at Wesleyan United Methodist Church, Calverton, Virginia.
He is survived by four children, Gayle Foley and husband Carroll, Wilbur W. Burton, Jr, W. Steven Burton and wife Janet, and Harold W. Burton, Sr. and wife Jacqueline. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Sarah R. Foley, Margaret A. Murphy (Matthew), William B. Foley, Jennifer P. Burton, Amy B. Myers, Rachel E. Burton, Harold W. Burton, Jr.; one great-grandchild: Jayden Myers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Ann; and two brothers, W. Ryland Burton, Jr. and David E. Burton.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Moser Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 1st, from 6 to 8 p.m., The service will be held on Friday, August 2nd, 11 a.m., at Moser Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Warrenton Cemetery, Warrenton, Virginia.
