Bonnie -

You and Erin, along with your loved ones, are always in my prayers. I've already talked to you, and it is clear that you have a personal relationship with God, and know that your help comes from the Lord. You're absolutely correct, you can do all things through Christ, Who strengthens you (us). You are healing well because you know Him. God bless you and yours, and Joey, Corey, and I love you.

To everyone who has called, e-mailed, sent cards, letters or flowers, stopped by to visit, cooked food, brought food, sent contributions or attended Bill's homegoing services, please accept my deepest gratitude and appreciation. Not only was (is) Bill the love of my life, but he was also my best friend. I miss him dearly. Everything that's been posted about him is true, and then some. When he went into his first surgery, my words to him were "Ok, soldier. You can do it." And he did. Despite complications, my husband and hero continued to fight until the end. My church prayed for him and friends, families and even strangers prayed for him throughout the country. That is powerful. In the end, the Lord decided that Bill's battle was over, and wrapped him in his loving arms to carry him home. I know Bill and the Lord continue to guide me, and the love, support and encouragement of family and friends help center me. Bill and I are very fortunate and blessed to know so many kind and loving people. I will continue to support his work in education and the community to the best of my abilities. But mostly I'll bask in the sweet memories of times we shared in Richmond, L.A., driving to Chicago, Nashville and Orlando (and getting lost), Greensboro, Seattle (missing the first flight), Missouri, Houston, Milwaukee, New York, D.C., South Carolina, the mountains, the ocean and our last trip together, San Francisco, a city Bill was thrilled to revisit after 30 years. I'll re-read the many cards he's given me through the years. I'll wear with a renewed sense of honor and respect the gifts he often surprised me with. I'll remember how Bill helped raise Erin to be the fine young lady she is. There were many nights when he helped with homework, nursed her, fed her and generally guided her.

Yes, I miss you, Bill. But every time I look into the sky, I see your smile and feel your love.

Bonnie

I was terribly saddened by Bill's passing. We had been friends since our days at Virginia State and crossed paths professionally on many occassions. I was unable to attend his homegoing celebration but was able to speak briefly with some of the family the evening before.

I will cherish our friendship forever and I know all of Bill's friends and acquaintances share your lost.

Bonnie & Family,

I was so saddened by the news of Billy's passing. He and I were close since our days at VSU. He was such fun to be around, always with a joke or funny story. He'd keep you in stitches with that infectious laugh of his. He shall be missed by me, but I know The Lord has him in His care and keeping, and has wiped every tear from Billy's eyes. He will for you, as well. Allow Him to comfort you and rest in His loving arms. God Bless you all.

Bonnie and Erin,

I was so saddened to hear of Bill's passing. NABJ conventions will never again be the same without his rock-steady support of all us journalists. I will miss his smile and droll wit. Find strength in the knowledge that he is with our Lord and we will all be together one day.

The family has my sympathy in the loss of Bill. I was deeply grieved to hear of his passing. He was a friend, colleague, and partner. We brainstormed, intellectualized, and worked hard for students with learning and behavior issues...And sometimes, we even had fun together. I have known and loved Bill since our V-State days together. He is missed.
