William Gunter Obituary

William Joseph Gunter, 61, of Richmond, formerly of Sanford, N.C., died Friday, December 27, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Lee Gunter; mother, Virginia Harmon Gunter of Sanford, N.C.; son, Joseph Harold Gilmore of Richmond; brother, Tommy Gunter of Sanford, N.C.; sisters, Linda Poppa of West End, N.C., Brenda Gilmore of Sanford, N.C., and Kathy Galloway of Lancaster, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gunter was retired from the City of Richmond Police Department after serving 21 years. He was a member of F.O.P. John Marshall Lodge #2, member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Calvin Gunter; and a sister, Patricia Gunter Dean. The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, Sanford, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and at other times at 3893 Lower River Road. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2 p.m. at Lees Chapel Church, with Rev. James Bowden officiating. Interment Moncure Methodist Church Cemetery.
