For some reason, I had Bill & Agnes on my mind today. God literally called me to seek Bill´s obit, which I did. I send my condolences to Agnes (if she remembers me) and the entire family. I´m so sorry for your loss.
I was very young, but visited Elkins often with my parents, Marcella & Henry Harness. I have vivid memories (because I inherited many Kump qualities! ) of seeing my cousin Bill practice the bagpipes marching around the back yard on High St. I relished every minute of hearing him blow those pipes, and to this day, I gravitate to that instrument when I hear a piper playing them. As you can imagine, Bill Kump was on my mind constantly when I visited Scotland!
Also, I remember, too, when Agnes & Bill were dating. That was so many years ago, but Agnes´ mother was sitting in the living room with us during the Forest Festival, and the dear woman was helping Agnes pin up her slip that was showing below the hem of her skirt. Back then...oh my. That could not be.
So many years and so many sweet memories of the beginning of Bill & Agnes´ love story.
God bless each and every one of you. No doubt, Bill is now preparing a special service in Heaven for his first Christmas with the LORD, who he knew well.

This is a loss of a life well lived. I was a neighbor of the Kumps growing up. Bill was always a leader even in grade school. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

As a fellow Highlander, I enjoyed dining several times with Bill and Agnes whe the band performed at the annual Scottish Walk in Alexandria.
Once, bidding farewell, I said to him, "I've enjoyed talking to you." Bill responded, "Try saying, 'I've enjoyed talking WITH you,' to avoid implying patronage."
I have done so ever since, each time remembering Bill.
My sincere condolences to Agnes, Meredith, Kerr, and the rest of Bill's family.

My Mom´s big brother. They had a special bond. Uncle Bill was one of a kind! We will miss his amazing stories. He sure could play the pipes! Much love to Aunt Agnes, Cy & Sterling. Love, Rebecca Susan Murphy Bennett
