Willis Funn Obituary
Rev. Willis A. Funn Sr., 85, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 1, 2024, at home with his family by his side. He was preceded on his heavenly journey by his parents, Charles and Maude Funn; sister, Emily Harris (Conrad); and brother, Charles Funn (Lona). He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Beverly Funn; children, Willis Jr. and John (Camille); and numerous cherished relatives and friends.
His remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland, VA, where a viewing will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 1 to 8 p.m. A homegoing celebration will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at First Antioch Baptist Church, 3920 Maidens Road, Powhatan, VA. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Kidney Fund or a charity of your choice.

I worked at Henrico Health Dept. for many years while Mr Funn was there. One day I had a fainting spell and he sat with me on the steps fanning my face with his tie for 20 minutes until I was feeling better. Another time I was trying to drive my car off the parking lot, but was stuck on ice as more snow and ice was falling. Out of nowhere he appears at the car window motioning me to get out. He then somehow got the car to a dryer surface so I could leave. I have not forgotten these times among others. He was always there when someone needed help. Never in a hurry to be somewhere else. When late for various occasions he commented that he was on colored people time. I loved his sense of humor and also know he was late because he was probably taking his time to help someone with something somewhere else. I will always remember him fondly.

I am truly saddened to learn about the passing of Willis. He served on the Board of Director's of CAPUP for many years while I served as President. He always has the interst of the communities the Agency served, especially those struggling financially and the senior citizens. His contributions to the mission of CAPUP were greatly appreciated and he was was a pleasure and fun to be around. My he rest in eternal peace.

Mr. Willis Funn had always been a wonderful mentor to me while working w/him at the Henrico Heslth Dept. We did Bible Study together during lunch time w/many other staff - thanks 4 teaching us. Appreciate you singing at my wedding too! Praise God for a life well lived!

I was sorry to hear of Reverend Funn´s passing. As I kid in church, I remember his mother, Ms. Maude. And as a teenager and adult, I have memories of Reverend Funn singing in the choir and greeting you in church. I know he will be missed by all that knew him! Sending prayers of comfort to the family.
