James David Stratton, 64, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.
He was born Sept. 4, 1958, in Greenfield, Ohio, the son of David B. Stratton and Marianna (Kerns) Morgan.
He was a 1977 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a lifetime member of the Pickaway VFW Post 3331, a lifetime member of the Circleville AM VETS, a member of First Families of Highland County, and a descendent of John Kerns 1 of Pennsylvania, a Revolutionary War veteran.
Along with his parents, he is survived by four sisters, Leigh Ann Stratton (Michael) Dubois of Crawfordsville, Florida, Lori Jean (Michael) Crossley of Ocala, Florida, Kimberly Sue Cohmer Cook of Chillicothe and Tammy Lynn Cohmer (Phil) Dentler of Plant City, Florida; one brother, Anthony Lowell "Tony" (Luz) Cohmer of Westerville; one stepbrother, Mike Hopkins of Leesburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including a special niece, Michelle Bell of Leesburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Priscilla Hester Stratton, on March 22, 2012.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield beginning with veterans appreciation service, then the Rev. Bruce Hines to officiate. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery with military rites provided by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at the funeral home.
The family wishes to thank the Chillicothe VA Medical Center as well as Dr. Jeffrey S. Rose and his staff at Adena Cancer Center in Chillicothe and Adena Regional Medical Center for the excellent care James received while he was there. God bless you all!
