John P. Freeman, 77, of Greenfield, died at 5:50 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born on Saturday, Feb. 26, 1944, in Cincinnati, the son of the late Clarence W. and Eileen Stiens Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Charlotte I. Schakler.
He is survived by his four daughters, Linda Akers of Leesburg, Colleen Freeman of Batavia, Mary Jackson of Leesburg and Kim Bedinghaus of Washington C.H.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Anita Marie (Curt) Brewer of Hillsboro; one brother, James Albert Freeman of Hillsboro; and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his daughter's mother, Joyce Ann Freeman; one grandson, Jonathan Sturgill; one son-in-law, Mark T. Jackson; one nephew, Adam Hacker; and three sisters, Edna Jean Freeman, Patricia Drennan and Margaret Ann Freeman.
John was a graduate of the Kings Mills High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering with small engines and repairing them. John built his own home for his family.
John will be cremated, and the family will have a celebration of his life later this year.
