Mary (Baker) Cooper passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at 8:20 am in her home in Lake Placid, Florida.
Mary was born Sept. 20, 1943, in Hillsboro, Ohio to Bill and Marie Baker. Mary grew up in Hillsboro, she was baptized at Hillsboro Church of Christ and graduated with the class of 1961. She was married to Robert Cooper of Hillsboro and raised her family here. She was a seamstress and loved to play tennis and swim. She moved to Lake Placid in 2001 and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Lake Placid. She loved gardening, cooking, reading, dancing, and most of all volunteering at the local hospital and Manna Ministries. She was blessed with hospitality and a genuine love for others. She always shared her faith and the love of Jesus. Mary was kind, caring, compassionate and generous to all those she encountered.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Bobbi Marie (Cooper) Dickinson (2017) and her sisters Ann Newby of Dayton and Jewel Jean (GiGi) Troup of Michigan. Mary is survived by her son, Doug Cooper of Stoutsville, Ohio and her grandsons Brandon Cooper of Bozeman, Montana and Joel Cooper of Stoutsville, Ohio. Mary is also survived by her three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Caius, and Leo, two nieces and two nephews.
Mary's ashes will be buried with her mother, father, grandmother, grandfather and daughter in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
The family suggests donations in Mary's memory be made to The First Baptist Church, 119 E Royal Palm Road, Lake Placid, Florida 33852 or the charity of your choice.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Dowden Funeral Home in Sebring, Florida.
