Mary Gross, a beloved member of her community, passed away on March 24, 2024, at the age of 76.
Born in Brownsville, Texas on Feb, 5, 1948, Mary was preceded by her parents, Joseph and Ruby (Lee) Caldwell; husband, Harold Gross, on Feb. 22, 2017; brother, Alex Caldwell; and sisters, Pat Story and Gladys Certain.
Mary led a fulfilling life that centered around her work as a medical assistant at UC Medical Center and Highland District Hospital. In addition to her career, Mary dedicated her time to serving as a greeter at Good News Gathering, where she shared her warmth and compassion with everyone she met. Mary had a passion for bowling and often spent her weekends at the local lanes, enjoying friendly competition with friends and family. Mary was known for her love of drawing, snacking on her favorite treats, and sipping on a cold diet Coke. She also had a deep commitment to her faith and was actively involved in the Ohio Mission Bible Training Center, where she found solace and community.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Melissa and Ron Wilson of Miamisburg and William "Bill" (Tammy Reed) Caldwell of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Cheyenne (Brantly) Reffitt, Olivia Wilson, Ovid Wilson, Jaya Reed and Austin; with several other bonus grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Easton and Avery Reffitt; lifelong friend, Maryanne deMilliano of Hillsboro; cat, Fluffy; dog, Brownie; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2024, at Good News Gathering. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until time of services on Friday at Good News Gathering.
