Daniel Catania Obituary

Daniel Charles Catania of Audubon Daniel Charles Catania of Audubon, PA died peacefully in his sleep on June 26, 2015. Born June 20, 1989 in Norristown, PA, Daniel attended and graduated Methacton High School in June of 2007. Shortly thereafter in December of 2007, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon graduation from submarine school he entered the special forces and was attached to the USS Henry M Jackson SSBN 730 as an EOD tech. He was deployed to Iraq, suffered as a POW in Afghanistan and served in several other countries around the world. Daniel was a highly decorated combat wounded veteran who served his country with precision and integrity. He always placed his men before himself. He loved God deeply and read Psalms 18 to his team before their missions. He wrestled as a youth with the Methacton Outlaws Youth Wrestling Club and enjoyed movies, puppies, driving and bowling. He had a childlike heart and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his father Nicholas, his mother Kim, brother Stephen and sister Nichole. Funeral services will be private at the request of the family. Donations may be made in lieu of the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675.

We are deeply sorry for the loss of Daniel, first to God and the Catania family that serve the Lord with extraordinary loyalty and commitment.

We are saddened for our nation for which Daniel unquestioningly risked his all for his fellow citizens.

Finally, we are saddened for the world who has lost a shining beacon of hope that changes lives with goodness and love.

In the Bible, when it speaks of "long life" the Hebrew equivalent is "days of life worth living." Whether our years are many or few it is "days of life worth living" that measure a man's life. Daniel made each day worthwhile for himself and others. We are grateful to God for the days he filled our lives with his love and goodness. Only eternity will reveal the full measure of his very precious life. In the meantime we will miss him dearly.

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
