John Calvin Swanson, age 62, died suddenly at home on Sunday. A son of the late Allan G. Swanson and the late Dorothy A. (Friel) Swanson, he was born in Upper Merion on July 6, 1951. He graduated from Upper Merion High School. He was preceded in death by Carl G. Swanson, brother. He is survived by four brothers, Allan N., age 73 of Downingtown, Pa, R. Bruce, age 70 of Northern Cambria, Pa, Ronald G., age 64 of Somerset, KY, Randy L., age 57 of Hawley, Pa, two sisters, Shirley A. Fazio, age 72, of Lansdale, Pa., Barbara J. Swanson, age 68, of Pottstown, Pa. and 16 nieces and nephews. He always enjoyed getting together with family for birthdays, picnics and holiday celebrations. He was very family oriented. "Jack," as he was known by family and friends, was employed by the family business, Star Printing; located in Downingtown, Pa. where he worked as a "printer" for the past 30 years. He was a sports enthusiast and excelled at softball in his younger years. He followed the Eagles, the Phillies and the Flyers. He was an avid "card player," and had a great passion for "Texas Hold 'Em." Jack was well loved by the card community and competed in tournaments that are held several times each week; in which he won numerous championships. He remained close with his family and will be greatly missed. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Uncle Jack will be missed by many, but none as much as his family... He was always there if you needed a hand for something. I am so glad my children got to know him through all of our family functions. I'm so happy to see how many peoples lives he touched through this Guest Book ! Rest In Peace Jack

(Uncle) Jack was a kind, gentle man with an incredibly giving spirit. I think one of the things he liked most in life was making other people happy. He always had fun at our family picnics and was one of the first in line for the pingpong tounaments. He enjoyed the holidays and was almost always the first person to arrive for dinner. So many memories. It's hard to believe he is gone.

Rest in Peace, Jack. We love you and we miss you. Family Life as we know it, will never be the same...?

Jack was such a warm and loving man.He was so thoughtful of other people and cared so much for others feelings. He was very "mild mannered", and had a great sense of humor. He never missed a family celebration and was so thoughtful and caring if someone was ill.We will miss his love and presence in our lives forever.
