John Warner Obituary

John (Jack) R. Warner, Sr. Esq., passed away on December 11, 2017 at the age of 87. He was born in Philadelphia on October 19, 1930 son of the late Samuel J. and Florence Warner and is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Suzanne Gordy Warner. He is also survived by his children Jennifer (Matt) Karpovich of Shillington, PA, John R (Debra) Warner Jr., of Springhouse, PA and Elizabeth (Peter) Barth of Collegeville, PA. Also surviving are 6 loving grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Jack attended Central High School and went on to graduate from Drexel University, served two years active duty in the United States Army and in 1960 graduated from Temple University Law School. As a young attorney, he started working with Francis E. Marshall, first at Davis, Crumlish and Marshall and then at the “The Law Offices of Francis E. Marshall”. In 1966 The Law Offices of Francis E. Marshall became Marshall, Dennehey & Warner before becoming Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin in 1980. Jack spent his entire career at Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin and while he retired from the firm in 2008, he continued to visit the King of Prussia office regularly to stay in touch with the firm. By virtue of his experience, skill and accessibility, Jack served as a mentor for a generation of the firm’s lawyers. Jack was active in the Montgomery Bar Association and served as President of its Trial Lawyers Section in 1984. In 2004, the Trial Lawyers Section presented Jack with the “James P. Fox Trial Lawyer of the Year Award” for “Professionalism in the Art of Trial Advocacy.” In 2010, he was presented with an award from the Montgomery Bar Association for being a member of the bar for 50 years. Jack was an avid year round golfer. He enjoyed watching all sorts of sporting events especially his beloved Phillies. When not working or toning his golf game he enjoyed time in Avalon, NJ with his family.
