Michael Mastrocola

Michael “Mike” Mastrocola, age 81, of Conshohocken, PA passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from a sudden illness. Mike was born in Fragneto Monforte, province of Benevento, Italy. He was the son of son of the late Angelo and the late Immaculata (Simmeone) Mastrocola. He has been living in Conshohocken for over 60 years, formerly of Norristown since he came from Italy at age 19. Mike was a business owner and entrepreneur. He was a shoemaker by training and owned several shoe repair businesses in Conshohocken, Norristown, Plymouth Meeting and King of Prussia. As a master craftsman, he taught several apprentice shoemakers the trade, who have later opened their own businesses. In 1979 Mike’s passion for great Italian food led him to start his first Italian Deli in Plymouth Meeting. He would later open three additional Italian delis in Conshohocken, Trooper, and Audubon. A few years ago he took his signature menu item, Mastrocola’s Famous Italian roast pork, to the marketplace for all to enjoy. Mike was a parishioner of St. Matthew’s RC Church (formally a parishioner of SS Cosmas & Damian). He was a past officer of the SS Cosmas & Damian fraternal organization, and a member of the Holy Savior Club in Norristown. Mike was the beloved husband of Gloria (Camaioni) Mastrocola. He is survived by his son, Michael A. (& Kathleen) of Conshohocken. He was preceded in death by a son Christopher(Sharon Scanlon). Mike has four grandchildren who love him dearly: Caitlin, Carly, Michael Patrick, and Christian. He is also survived by his sister, Maria (John) DiCreddo, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 10:30 AM from St. Matthew’s Church at 219 Fayette St. Conshohocken, PA 19428. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:15 AM at the Church. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s name to St. Matthew’s Church 219 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, Pa 19428.
