Charles Gordon Obituary

Oct. 13, 1980 - Sept. 3, 2007

The beloved son of Joseph and Doris Gordon passed away on Sept. 3, 2007. He was born in San Francisco and grew up in Vallejo.

He attended Vallejo High School but received his diploma from Peoples High School. He enjoyed writing poetry and loved photography. He was very good with his hands and loved experimenting with technical devices. He also loved children and was always outside playing with the neighborhood children.

Charles is survived by a large family of siblings, Joseph, David, Douglas, Joyce, Kenneth, Donnell, Larry, John, Leonard, Anita Michelle and his twin sister Tracie.

The sudden death of Charles Gordon brings a great loss to the lives of all that knew him. We will miss him dearly but we will always love him forever in our memories and hearts.

Friends and family are invited to a viewing and visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10 at Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo. The family will arrive at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Revival Center Ministries, Vallejo.

One of my memories of Charles of him is I was in the kitchen frying some pork chops and I had some on a platter that I had cooked and was still frying some more I had some clothes in the dryer and went to take them out and went over to finish frying the others and looked at my platter and some were missing, Charles had just passed by me empty handed going out the door, he had stuffed them in his jacket pocket and ran out the door, by the time I got to the door he was gone , I named him the pork chop thief. he loved to eat. He would get paid and go straight to the store and buy crab and giant shrimp to to cook.

Charlie,

I can't believe that it really has been a year since you left us. I miss you so much and wish I could just have a hug from you right now, although I can't I am comforted by the fact that I know you're my guardian angel watching over me. I think about our childhood and we were so blessed, it was a childhood that was filled with wonderful memories that I will always cherish. Mom and Dad miss you so much, you wouldn't even imagine but they are such strong, wonderful, loving parents, and I know always that you are with them forever just like a chlid always is when lost. I love you so much, and am so proud to have called you my brother.

We love you Charles

Hey Charlie,
I can't believe it's 2008 and you're not here, it all seems so unreal at times until I am snapped back to the cold reality of it. Christmas was kinda hard because i had never opened a gift without you, and mom made your favorite Gumbo. I swear even though it worked my nerves i would have given anything to hear you slurp the juice out of the crab. :) Well just wanted to tell you how much I Love and miss you.

Love,
Your twin sis

Charlie,

It has been two months exactly today since the Lord called you up to be with him, and it feels like it has been forever! I MISS YOU so much and wish that you were here. I can't believe how many memories we shared together, it feels like we had a million or more good times. I was in Costa Rica today and you would have absolutely loved it, I wrote your name in the sand just for you. Just wanted to let you know that you were the best brother in the world and I desperately miss you. I LOVE YOU ALWAYS.

As my mother said thank you for all of your words of comfort and your memories of Charles.
No mom Charles may not have been perfect but who is? But all of us are perfect at something and Charles was perfect at being an exceptional uncle to his nieces Nick and Dez. He wanted to be and was the best uncle ever. There was nothing he would not do for them, even spend his last cent to buy them something, (I seen him do it) something they didn’t ask for or know they were going to get, something he saw and wanted to buy it for them. That was they person he was. Charles was perfect at making people smile and knowing what he could do to make you smile.
Charles will always be my little brother. Charles and I had a relationship not like any ordinary brother/sister relationship, on the border line of sister/mother/friend and I miss him dearly. There is not one day that goes by without thinking of him. We could argue, fuss or fight and before that day was over or the next day would come, we would be right back talking and laughing.
Yes, mom Charles is resting from all his fears and worries and is and will always be your angel. I always would tell Charles and Tracie they were put here on earth for a very special reason, to make a change, to bring a difference in this place we call home and I now know what Charles reason is.
I would like to especially thank a few people in no particular order other than alphabetical. These families were my friends/families and when I introduced them to Charles, they accepted him like he was, as he was. Didn’t judge, ridicule or treat him any different from their own blood. When he was introduced by them, he was introduced as a nephew, cousin or brother and I want to express how much that meant to Charles and me. V& S Austin & family, The Demery family, The MaGee family, The McFarland, family, The Morton family, The Slaughter (Tyson) family and The Williams family. I would also like to thank S. Wakeman and L.C. Chapman, S. Archibald, and The Revival Center Ministries as well as all of Charles friends; even some I didn’t know or was not close to who have reached out to me. All and everyone else who have been here for us. If a day go by without a phone call, text or email from some of these people I am in trouble. (You know who you are)
I love and miss you so much Charles (Charlie). I was born here on this earth before you and I guided, taught, introduced and showed you new things, now you are born before me and you get to guide, teach, introduce and show me new things when we meet again. Your big sister and friend, Anita Michelle Phillips (Chelle)

P.S.
Charles I know you had a great Birthday, watching Tracie and I bring you and her 27th Birthday in together. The first time since you guy’s were having kiddy birthday parties.

Happy 27th Birthday Charlie, I Love You forever.

October 13, 2007

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Hi Charles,
It's only been a month and nine days since you haven't been with us. We all miss you so much, but no one misses you more than mom and dad. I can't believe that tomorrow is our birthday and I won't get to give you a hug and kiss and wish you a happy bday. I so badly wish you were here but know deep down you are happier where you are at. I LOVE YOU ALWAYS.
