Daniel W. "Danny Boy" Williams Jr.

Daniel "Danny Boy" W. Williams Jr., 83, died Saturday at Vallejo Care Center from complications of a long illness. Born in Little Rock, Ark., Mr. Williams was a resident of Vallejo.

Mr. Williams worked at the Mare Island Shipyard during WW II, and later at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory for 35 years before retiring in 1984. He loved bowling, photography, leather crafts, baseball, football and watching CNN. He was a member of Dunbar Alumni and Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of four-and-a-half years Wilhelmena Lee-Williams; daughters Traci Danae and Kaci Janae; sons Daniel W. III and Ronald Allen; stepsons Geir Anthony and Prometheus Damon; sister Dora Mae Ricks; nieces and nephews, Dwayne, Dion and Shawn Ricks, Stephany Ricks-Fields, Eldridge (Shadyne) Williams, and Sue (Jeff) Marion Walker; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; grandnieces and nephews; close friends Ed Harper, Wes Atkins, Vernita Pree, Earl and Marguerite King, Joyce Frost, Monique Stean, the Rev. James Davis, Elizabeth Carter and numerous others.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1905 Florida St., with the Rev. Joseph K. Flowers, Pastor of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Rolling Hills Cemetery, Richmond.
