David Wayne Toby, 59 of Vallejo passed away at home on Thursday.
David was a lifelong resident of Vallejo and worked as a painter, mechanic and counselor and served with the United States Army.
David's love for baseball started at the age of 7 years old playing little league in Vallejo and excelling through High School and to the Minor Leagues. His passion for the game did not end as he coached Vallejo Little League and Babe Ruth for over 10 years. He also enjoyed playing golf, caring for friends and family and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his former wife of 18 years, Sandra Tobey, daughter, Stephanie (Michael) Alexander, son, David Tobey, brother, Michael (Brenda) Tobey, Larry Jones, nieces, Melissa Vershay, Michelle Scott, Rheanan and Trisha Tobey, nephews, Jim Kimura, Ron and Dylan Tobey, Gerad and Jacob Hope, grandchildren, Jordan, Lucia and Solomon, and special friends James Kimura and Ray Gibson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Twin Chapels Mortuary with Rev. Al Marks officiating. Inurnment will be private.

I was very sorry to hear of the passing of David. We had a lot of good times playing ball in the days, David was always happy and fun to be around. I thought about him alot.

I am at a loss over the news of David.  I knew him only breifly but am certain that the world was a far better place because of him.  He was one of the most giving and kind people that I ever had the pleasure of meeting.  You are in my thoughts and prayers for peace at this difficult time.
