Robert Moniz Obituary
Former Vallejo Fire Engineer, Robert J. "Bob" Moniz, 81, passed away Wednesday at his home in Vallejo following a long illness.
Bob was born in Visalia, on Aug. 16, 1936 to Joseph C. and Emma Moniz. The family moved to Vallejo in 1941 and Bob graduated from Vallejo Senior High School in 1955. He worked for the Vallejo City Fire Department and, after 30 years of service, was forced to retire in 1991 following an on the job accident.
Bob was a member of the Vallejo Moose Lodge #468, Solano County Fire Association, and the Police and Fire Widow and Orphans Association. He enjoyed camping, fishing, travelling and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Evalina; daughter, Michele Peeks; son, Robert (Kristen); grandson, Mitchell; and brother-in-law, Tom (Kathy) Zander.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the excellent care given to Bob by Debbie, Terry and numerous others during his illness.
Visitation will be held 2 to 9 p.m., Thursday with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee St., Vallejo. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, at All Souls Cemetery, Vallejo.

I was saddened to learn of Bob's passing. He served at the Springstowne station she Miss Julie and I worked at the Springstowne Library in the late 1970s. He was always teasing us about swapping out their old chairs for our easy chairs. It was wonderful having all the guys next door. Peace to the family.
