Theodosia Santiago Obituary

June 15, 1927 - Nov. 26, 2010

Theodosia June Florez Santiago, 83, passed away Friday in her hometown of Vallejo, Calif. She attended St. Vincent Ferrer High School, graduating in 1947.

Her interests included family, cooking, crocheting and gardening. She was also an avid reader. She met her husband, Arthur Santiago, when he was a Merchant Marine. As a U.S. Army family, they were stationed in Washington, the Panama Canal Zone, Kentucky and North Carolina. They returned to Vallejo permanently in 1971.

June was a longtime parishioner of St. Vincent's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Arthur Santiago; her children, Victoria Santiago of Oakland, Steven Santiago of Belair, Roberta Santiago with her husband, David Swanson, of Castro Valley, Lora Santiago of Vallejo and Vanessa Santiago of Martinez; her granddaughters, Pamela Churchill and Kimberly Sweeney of Castro Valley; her sister, Gertrude Florez of Vallejo; her sister-in-law,

Virginia Mateo of Altadena; and her cousin, Adella Lombre of Vallejo.

June will always be remembered for her generous nature, her ability to talk to almost anyone, and her unreserved love for her family and friends. We were graced by her presence and will miss her sorely.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of June's favorite charities: the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers and the Shrine of St. Jude.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, with a Rosary at 7 p.m., at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, 524 Capitol St., Vallejo.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 925 Florida St., Vallejo.

Burial services will take place at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, Vallejo.
