Aileen Martis Obituary

Aileen V. (Beckley) Martis, 86, of 10th Street, Berwick, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Berwick Hospital Center.
Born May 27, 1922, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Loretta (Dalton) Beckley. A graduate of Hanover High School, she was member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Berwick, and was also an active member of the Republican National Committee.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Jerome M. Martis, who died May 3, 1998; one sister, Lorraine Brunza; and a brother, Charles Beckley. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by all.
Surviving are her two sons, Jerome Martis and his wife, Claire, of Larksville, and David J. Martis and his wife, Carol A., of Berwick; three grandchildren, Christopher D., Charles and Eric Martis; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Sarah Martis; one sister, Loretta, wife of James Butterwick, of Forty Fort; two brothers, Ross Beckley and his wife, Maureen, of Hanover Township; George Beckley, of Boundbrook, N.J.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2008, at the Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 110 Chestnut St., Berwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 721 Monroe St., Berwick, with the Rev. Walter Guzman, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
