Our beautiful mother, a loving wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 3, 2025, while surrounded by her adoring family.
Born March 24, 1941, in Wilkes-Barre, to her parents, Joseph and Alice (Burke) Trevethan, Alice grew up in the Parsons section of the city and spoke of her childhood filled with love. Alice attended Coughlin High School and graduated in 1958. It was in Coughlin High School chemistry class that she met David (Bobby) Jones.
They moved to Millburn, N.J., in 1962, when Bob began working at the Millburn Fire Dept. Alice was happily a homemaker and wife while tending to their four children by 1966. Alice was a child care provider in their home for many years while her children were young, and then began working for ARA food corporation in the late 1970s. Alice was proud to be involved in all of her children's activities, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troop mother, band Mmom, football, baseball, wrestling and any other experiences her kids were invested in, Alice was quietly and elegantly right there.
Alice and Bob retired in 1990 and returned to Wilkes-Barre, where they enjoyed being back "home" with their family. Bobby and Alice were together as partners in life and love until Bob passed away in 2006. They shared nearly 50 years together. The loss of Bob was difficult, but Alice found her way again with courage and grace. Alice donated her time and energy while volunteering at Geisinger Hospital for many years after Bob's passing. She enjoyed meeting new people and giving comfort to family and patients who needed a smiling face and listening ear.
Above all things, Alice was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. One of her favorite things was to visit Florida every two years and to get as many of the family together for a week of fun in the sun. Where we shared cards, swimming, sunshine, lots of laughs and plenty of music to sing along to. Alice was a music lover and could be seen and heard on her porch with her favorite playlists while she sang along and reminisced of her favorite memories.
Alice is survived by her four loving children and their families. David and Lorraine Jones, Bear Creek; Richard and Julia Jones, Las Cruces, N.M.; Daniel Jones and Molly Rowell, Pompey N.Y.; and Suzanne and Andy Tuzinski, Forty Fort. Her grandchildren, Allison Brislin (Ryan) Daniel Jones (Koryn) Kaleigh Musitano (Giovanna) Melissa Senese (Brandon) Lauren Lackey (Jereme) Benjamin Jones and Jack Jones Tuzinski. She is also leaving behind her beloved great-grandson, Owen Reilly Brislin, who brought her great joy in his fishing tales and generous Nanabird hugs and love. She is also survived by her loving and devoted siblings, Catherine Teel-Borowski (Jack) and Bernard Trevethan (Christine). Along with her immediate family, Alice was blessed to have cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly as they remained a touchstone to her past and a blessing until her last days.
Alice was known for her kind heart, her infectious laugh, and her graceful, elegant demeanor.
She was a shining example of unconditional love and resiliency. She will be missed deeply and remembered always,
