I am so sorry to hear about Allan. Allan was an amazing inspiring man who I feel blessed to have known. His kind words and amazing personality was something that I will remember about him forever. Please accept my sincere sympathy. I will cherish the rock he gave me 8 years ago and am so thankful its meaning was written in an email. His memory will live with me forever.

Please accept my deepest sympathy. I knew Allan through my work as a Union Rep w/UFCW Local 1776. Al was a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. One of my fondest memories was golfing with Al about 7 years ago at our Union's golf tournament. I also believe Allan's wife taught mein elementary school, so once again, please accept my condolences.

I met Allan only last year when he came to a Historical Society Meeting at Mountain Lake/Meadow Run. In a brief time period he shared his vast knowledge of the history of our area and captivated us all with his stories of Native Americans here in Wyoming Valley. He showed an abiding respect for their culture and was obviously deeply spiritual. We had no idea he was ill, as he was so upbeat and looking forward to participating in our committee. He had much to give. We are so very sorry for your loss and will miss him!

Sincere sympathy to the Makowski family. I understand your loss having lost my dad just a few short weeks ago. I just wanted to let you know that I had the priviledge of knowing Allan when he worked at Blue Cross. I was one of the lucky recipients of one of his trademark rocks which he gave me one day with such detail on its meaning. It still sits on my desk many years later. I will remember him fondly particularly the one-on-one conversation I had with him last September at a Blue Cross seminar. We shared memories and stories of years past and compared notes on our children. I am glad I had the opportunity to spend that time with him. Take comfort in knowing he is in a better place (with my dad).

Allan smiles. He is one of those people that you meet and you like instantly. You know he is there for you. Giving his writings, his rocks, himself. Allan was just my DavisVision rep. JUST my rep. He became much more, a friend. Allan smiles.

One of the first people I met after starting at Blue Cross a year ago was Allan. He was the nicest guy. He came right into my office, introduced himself and began to give me tips that would help me be successful in my new job. About four months ago, he came to BCNEPA and brought me a gift. It was a rock that he had painted. He did that a lot for folks if he found a rock that reminded him of a particular person. The rock he made me is beautiful. My colors represented compassion, zeal, intelligence, a higher power and learned behavior. If I could paint a rock for him, he would have all those qualities and more.

There are many rocks in our building that will last for lifetimes. You will always be thought of and dearly missed.

Pauline, my prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Pauline and family,
I was very sorry to hear that your beloved Allan has left.
I wish there were something I could say or do to take away your pain.
Years ago when I worked as secretary to several MONY insurance reps, Allan was one of them and he always treated me with kindness. Pauline, you were one of my daughter Jackie's favorite teachers as well as my fellow member of the West Side Junior Women's club. You and Allan and I maintained a friendship throughout these past years and I am thankful for that.
Since I recently lost my dear mother Nancy, I know, too well, the emotions all of you are going thru right now. Please hold close to your heart, all of the many wonderful memories which you and Allan made together as well as those memories made with your children and family members.
May God bless you all during this most difficult time.
Sincerely in friendship,

Tom Thorne

I attended high school with Allan and eventually got to know him pretty well. He was always one to smile and had a cheerful outlook. My condolences to the Makowski family.
