Al...We spent all summer with you & Erika. Softball Sundays WILL NEVER BE THE SAME...Your undeniable love & commitment for the game will live on through the guys forever. You touched everyone you met & you were a wonderful friend to ALL who knew you...thats quite an understatement when reading the other entries here from the friends you had from everywhere. Its so hard to make sense & try to understand WHY god takes the ones he does...all we can tell ourselves is that you ARE in a better place & your certainly NOT alone.

Thanks for the ALL the laughs & the smiles Al, WE LOVE YOU & we'll never forget you! RIP #13

Fonz...I've had the pleasure of finally getting to meet you within the past year. My husband told me stories about you all the time and they just made me laugh. When I finally did meet you I understood why he always had fond things to say about you. Everytime I was around you, you put a smile on my face. You and Russ are truly going to be missed. No one will ever be able to compare to you guys. Take care of each other up there in heaven.

Fonz, I can't believe I'm writing two of these in one week. We lost touch for a while after high school and it was only recently that we got back in touch. I remember so many things, like how I always called you Gary Coleman and you got so mad (you'd always have a name to come back at me with). What I remember most was seeing you at my sister's house one night when I had my kids with me. My daughter is a good judge of character and doesn't warm up to just anyone. But I remember her sitting next to you on the couch and you had your arm around her telling her stories about daddy in high school. She obviously knew from the moment she saw you that you were a wonderful person, and she was right. I'm going to miss you.

AL, You will be greatly missed and loved. To the family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Al was an amazing person and has helped me through some of the roughest times in my life with wanting nothing in return. I could always depend on him making me smile, times playing cards or even helping me clean while I was pregnant. I can remember the number of phone calls asking advice about girls or vice versa. Coming to my house after working on one of his cars with burns or cuts and laughing about it. Even playing ball in Plymouth of course you winning. You will never be forgotten. Love, Jessica

Dear family of Alphonso,

I would like you to tell you just a bit about how special Alphonso was to me, and how much he affected my life. I moved to Effort in 10th grade and was terrified to be the new kid -- Alphonso was the very first friend I made on that first day of school. He was the first person to be really nice to me, and as silly as it sounds, my first words to him, words which always remained a joke between us, were "Can I wear your chain?" (it was a big gold anchor). So silly, but it started a friendship that I will always treasure. Alphonso was the first boy I ever loved - not puppy love but real love - although we quickly figured out we were better as friends. I saw him throughout college, when he would bring his son, whom he loved SOOOOOOOO incredibly much, by the store I worked at in the mall to say hello. The last time I saw him was about 3 years ago - we played pool, had ice cream at Hilltop and laughed about old times. I actually emailed him last week, hoping to see him at the reunion. I'm very sorry I couldn't stay in town to see him one final time, to say good-bye and to pay my respects to you, his loved ones.

I want you to know how important Alphonso was to me, to my life, to the person I grew up to be. He really did love life and helping others - he saw the good in people. I hope that one day his son will grow up to be like him, because he made the world a better place.

With much love and sorrow,

Jen Slocum, or as he called me, "Sloc"

Al,
I miss you a lot man! I know it's been quite a while since I last you but I never forgot you. I never will forget you. I love you bro! I'll keep an eye on Dominick for you and you keep watch over your family and fiancee and my little girl Delilah for me. I know you'll keep Dominick safe and all but I can try to help. We all love and miss you man. My mom and Aunt Darleen, too. I'll see you when I get there.

to Al's family,
I know it's hard to cope with something this tragic. And it's never easy to let go of someone who you love so deeply. Just never forget the good times. All the times he made us all smile and laugh. I just know he's looking down hoping that we all will make it through this terrible time. I pray that you are all comforted in everyway. I know Al would want us to remember the best of the best memories. He was a great man and will live on in all the lives he touched.

R.I.P Al
You will forever be missed.
