Andrew Bazil Obituary

Andrew Bazil of Scranton died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005. His wife, the former Mary Lipa, died Feb. 13, 2004.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Andrew and Anna (Sichak) Bazil, he was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Scranton, and was educated in Scranton public schools. An Army veteran of World War II, he received the Good Conduct Ribbon, the American Defense Service Ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon. He was a member of the American Legion Post 920. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the former Weston Co.
Surviving are four daughters, Maryann and husband Jim Size, Scranton; Susan T. and husband Steve Lenko, Lake Ariel; Patricia and husband Steve Ubaldini, Kingston; Anne D. Bazil, Scranton; a son, Andy, and wife Barbara Bazil, Shavertown; two sisters, Mary Kulick, Scranton; Helen Olenick, Sturges; five grandchildren, Jason Lenko, Andrew Bazil, Jonathan and Steven Ubaldini, Alexis Bazil; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Bazil; two sisters, Anna Galida and Susan Urpaugh.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., with Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Linden Street and Mifflin Avenue, to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis M. Twardzik, S.D.B., pastor. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Minooka.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Parastas will be at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 310 Mifflin Ave., Scranton, PA 18503.
