Andrew Pecile Obituary

Andrew A. Pecile, 75, of Deer Run Road, Drums, passed away early Sunday morning at Mt. City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Hazleton, April 18, 1933, he was a son of the late Gildo and Anna (Pisani) Pecile. He spent the past 45 years in Drums after moving from Hazleton.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict, where he attained the rank of corporal. Andrew served as the chief of police for Weatherly borough from 1968 to 1972 and as chief of police in Butler Township from 1972 until his retirement in 1986. Following his retirement, he worked as a private detective and founded Pecile Detective Agency, where one of his primary clients was to provide security for the Beech Mountain Lakes residential subdivision.
Andrew was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Bunton Bock Old Timers, and the Nescopeck Gun Club, where he enjoyed shooting. He attended St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Johns.
Surviving are his wife to whom he was married 53 years on July 2, 2008, the former Ruth Schuchart; four children, Richard Pecile and his wife, Cindy, San Diego, Calif.; Jordan Pecile and his wife, Michele, Drums; Robert Pecile and his wife, Mary Lee, Drums; and Lori Opiary and her husband, Thomas, Drums; six grandchildren, Angela, Gina, Jordan and Morgan Pecile; and Alyssa and Kristen Opiary; a brother, Jordon Pecile, Connecticut; a sister, Celeste Voeks and her husband, Wally, Hawaii; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Johns, with Sister Janet Stump officiating. Interment will follow in St. John’s Lutheran and UCC Cemetery, St. Johns, Pa. Friends may call this evening, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, and Wednesday morning, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the church.
