Ann Wilk Obituary

Ann Wilk, of Plains Township, died peacefully Tuesday in the Hospice of the VNA Inpatient Unit of Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. She had fought a brief and courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born in the Hudson section of Plains, she was the daughter of the late John and Julianna Medwick Wanek. She was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School. She was also a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, Plains. A lifelong resident of Plains Township, she and her husband owned and operated Wilk's Cafe in the Irishtown section of Plains. She had been a homemaker most of her life, as well as a devoted friend, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J., in 1975; brothers, Walter, Michael and John Wanek, who died Feb. 28, 2004; and her sister, Mary Lussi, who died April 14, 2004.

Surviving is daughter, Kimberly Caruso and her husband, David; grandchildren, Christopher and Cameron Coley, all of Sugar Notch; a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Julia) Ozgo, Plains; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the Mark V. Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark St., Plains, with a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in SS. Peter and Paul Church, Plains. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
