Anna Kmieciak Obituary

Anna Smotrycki Kmieciak, 97, of Edwardsville, passed away Monday February 23, 2009, at ManorCare, Kingston.
Born Oct. 6, 1911, in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Malek Smotrycki. She retired from Consolidated Cigar, Wilkes-Barre.
She was an active member of Resurrection of the Lord Polish National Catholic Church in Edwardsville and enjoyed making pierogies with the other ladies of the church. She also took ceramics classes, knitted and crocheted. She took pride in the fact that she was able to maintain her home, yard and car up until her late ’80s.
She was preceded in death by a 5-day-old infant son, Ronald; a sister, Mary Zevan; and brothers Joseph and John Smotryski. She was married for 43 years to the late Theodore “Pete” J. Kmieciak until his death in 1980.
Surviving are one son, Theodore, Crofton, Md.; grandson Kenneth, Canton, Ga.; granddaughter Karen (John) Cheney, Crofton, Md.; two great-grandsons; and dear friend Cathy Wheeler, Edwardsville.
Funeral will be Thursday at 12:30 from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Avenue, Kingston, with Funeral Liturgy at 1 in Resurrection of the Lord PNC Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Lehman Twp.
Friends may call today, from 6 to 8 p.m.
