DUNMORE — Corporal Bryon K. Dickson II, 38, Dunmore, died late Friday night, Sept. 12, 2014, at the Pennsylvania State Police, Blooming Grove Barracks. He and his wife, the former Tiffany Antos, had celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on Aug. 20th.
Born in Minot, North Dakota, he was a son of Bryon K. and Darla Shoop Dickson, Falls.
Bryon was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, having earned a B.A. in administration of justice and a minor in sociology. He served his country and state honorably as both a U.S. Marine and as a Pennsylvania State Trooper. Bryon will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend that will be missed more than words can express.
Upon graduation from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 2007, Bryon was stationed at Troop N, Fern Ridge, where he was assigned to conduct aggressive patrol operations throughout Monroe and Carbon counties. Bryon had a sincere passion for DUI enforcement, earning multiple awards from the Pennsylvania DUI Association and numerous State Police commendations. His passion for removing impaired drivers from our streets led to Bryon completing his Drug Recognition Expert certification, becoming one of the few highly-trained troopers tasked with identifying drug-impaired drivers.
In July of 2013, Bryon was promoted to Corporal and assigned to Troop K, Philadelphia. He was subsequently transferred to Troop R, Blooming Grove, in June of 2014, where he served as a Patrol Unit Supervisor.
Also surviving are two young sons, Bryon Keith Dickson III and Adam Robert Dickson, at home; a sister, Stacey Hinkley and her husband, Mark, Sweet Valley; and a brother, Brandon Dickson and his wife, Candice, Kansas; nieces and nephews, Devin, Jacob, and Gabriel Dickson and Joshua and Kaelyn Hinkley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter's Cathedral, 315 Wyoming Ave., Scranton, by Pennsylvania State Police Chaplin, the Rev. Thomas M. Muldowney, Vicar General. Burial with full honors will take place in the Dunmore Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Rotunda at Marywood University, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cpl. Bryon K. Dickson II Memorial Fund, c/o NBT Bank, 1230 O'Neill Highway, Dunmore, PA 18512.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., Dunmore.

On a work trip in Tennessee this week and seen a Books A Million. I remember our many Saturday trips to the one in Jacksonville, NC. What 21 year old Marines spent their Saturdays roaming a bookstore?? The normal stop to Taco Bell afterwards was always a treat as well. I'll never forget you brother.

My condolences to Corporal Dickson's family, friends, and fellow officers. I' m including a saying here that always helps me in my time of grief: "Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, still missed, and held so dear. For death leaves a heartache no one can heal, And love leaves a memory no one can steal." I will keep your family in my prayers. From the mother of a Daughter who is a Wyoming Probation and Parole Officer, a sister whose brother is a Lt. with Wyoming Highway Patrol, and a dad who was a Marine.
