I first met Carl in the fall of 1970, stationed on board the USS Simon Lake AS33 at the shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. We worked as electricians on the ship. When our ship arrived in Charleston, South Carolina in July 1971, Carl shared a trailer with me and another electrician from Florida. There were 8 of us living in trailers side by side. We all became good friends quickly as we worked together, and spent our time off the ship together. After Carl married Nancy he found a trailer a few miles from us and Nancy fit right in with all of us. When Paul was born in July 1972, we all became honorary uncles. After our discharge, we visited and kept in touch. 50 years have gone by and we all keep in touch and are still friends. My condolences to Nancy and her family. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
