Chris Latona Obituary

Chris C. Latona, 96, of Pittston, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025, at Wesley Village.

He was born in Pittston on March 10, 1929, to the late Sam and Angelina Latona. Chris graduated from Pittston City High School and spent his career working in the Luzerne County Assessors Office up until his retirement. He proudly served the City of Pittston for over 35 years as controller and then treasurer.

Chris enjoyed making his own Italian sausage that he looked forward to sharing with his family and friends on Christmas Eve. He enjoyed spending time on his front porch, smoking a cigar while having his cherished dog, Buddy, by his side. He loved watching Western movies on TV and never missed a Yankees game.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Biscotti Latona; and siblings: Mary, Joseph, Angeline, Sam, Rose, Leo and Nellie.

He is survived by his daughter, Rose Mary Frati of Pittston; son, Chris Latona Jr. and his wife, Doreen, from Reno Nev.; granddaughters: Lisa Sciandra (Lou), Dina Carone (Stephen), Megan Bruno (Jason) and Minda Welch (Jason); great-grandchildren: Julia, Gianna, Owen and Ryan; nieces and nephews; and several friends and neighbors who were like family.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Wesley Village and their amazing staff for the care Chris received, as well as the hospice team for their service in Chris' final weeks.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Adonizio Funeral Home LLC, 251 William St., Pittston.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston. Those wishing to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Private interment will be in Pittston Cemetery.
