David Maier Obituary
David R. Maier, 68, of Kingston, died early Friday morning, August 27, 2010, at the Kingston Commons Nursing Facility. Born in Baltimore, Md., he was a son of the late Milton and Pearl Brandsorf Maier, graduated from Kingston High School and attended Wilkes-Barre Business College. He worked for M. Lidz Inc. and was a member of Congregation Ohav Zedek, a member of the Ohav Zedek Ritual Committee, the Jewish Community Center and other civic and religious organizations. David was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Edwin (Jerry) Clarke. He is survived by his loving wife, the former Lila Friedman; daughter Allison Clarke, Butler, Pa.; three grandsons, Kristopher, Reno and Noah; one granddaughter, Darien; and brother Herbert Maier. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday from the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre, with Rabbi Raphael Nemetsky officiating. Interment will be in Ohav Zedek Cemetery, Hanover Township. Shiva will be observed Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at 352 Pierce St., Apartment 5, Kingston. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Congregation Ohav Zedek, 242 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 5100 W. 5100 W. Tilghman St., No. 40, Allentown, PA 18104-9113. Condolences may be e-mailed to [email protected] .

Lila,
Judi and I both regret the sad news of David's passing. As you well know, we were all friends at one time and shared times together at the JCC and other social events. We were also neigbors with some family connections. I often saw and spoke with David when he worked at Lidz's. Our best to you and your family,
