Deborah Torres, 70, of Mountain Top, passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Chicago, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Betty Koehler.
Deborah received her bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and then earned master's degrees from Johns Hopkins and the University of Pennsylvania.
She was an advocate for women's health and was instrumental in opening several clinics in Northeast Pennsylvania. A woman of unmatched generosity, Deborah was a kind and joyful person who was full of life. She enjoyed the outdoors, knitting, crafting and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandson while awaiting the arrival of her granddaughter.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband, Dr. Albert Torres, in February of this year.
Surviving are her son, Albert Torres and wife, Erin; grandson, Albert Timothy Torres; brothers and sisters, Raymond Koehler and wife, Deborah; Kim Jassor and husband, Kamal; Brett Koehler and wife, Lisa; and Amy Wiles and husband, Kenny; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until noon Wednesday morning at the McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top.
