Dominic J. Amendola, 93, of Hanover Township, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025, at his home.
He was born in Hanover Township, a son of the late Joseph and Angela Damiano Amendola. Dominic was a 1950 graduate of Hanover Township High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years by Okonite Cable Company in New Brunswick, N.J.
Dominic was a very knowledgeable sports fan; especially of his beloved New York Yankees.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Sinkiewicz Amendola, in 2003; son-in-law, Robert Schoen; brothers, Joseph and Anthony Amendola; and sisters, Mary Moore, Angela, Rita, Anna, Margaret and Anna Marie Amendola.
Dominic is survived by his children, Debbie Schoen, Barbara Sachs and Robert Drake; grandsons, Michael Schoen; Ryan Schoen; and Christopher Schoen and his wife, Lauren; great-granddaughter, Reagan Schoen; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
A celebration of Dominic's life will be held from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Saturday at Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
