Dorothy Ney Obituary

Dorothy Grogan Ney, 94, formerly of South Hancock Street in Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at Mercy Center in Dallas.
Born Feb. 6, 1915, in Plains Township, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Conahan Grogan. Dorothy lived in Luzerne as a child and graduated from Luzerne High School. Before retiring in 1980, Dorothy was a business agent for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union for more than 20 years.
She was a member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas and its Altar and Rosary Society, the John Heinz Institute Auxiliary and VFW Post 283 Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Ney, who died in 1983; a stepson, Jude and his wife, Catherine Ney; step-grandson, David Ney; sisters, Lucy Adamo, Rosemary Swift and Ann Marie Golob; and brothers, Cornelius, Michael and Thomas Grogan.
Surviving are a sister, Elizabeth Parkinson, of Bensalem; brother, James Grogan, of Kentucky; nieces and nephews, including Molly Samuels and her husband, Ron, of Berwick; step-grandchildren, including Mary Beth Ney, of Wilkes-Barre; Paul Ney, of New York, and Jude Ney, of Illinois.
Funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from McLaughlin Family Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Parish of Saint Nicholas. Interment will be in Saint Nicholas Cemetery in Shavertown. Friends may call Monday, from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
