WEST CHESTER — Edward Gallagher, 64, of West Chester, passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2024, surrounded by his immediate and ReMed family.

Born Dec. 21, 1959, in Arlington, Va., he was the son of the late Bernard and Mildred "Moo" Gallagher. He graduated from Arundel High School in 1977.

Ed had a great love for his nieces and nephews. He loved spending time riding horses and being around dogs (especially Woodford). Ed worked hard all of his life and was honored to receive the Fighting Back Scholarship award in 2014.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his brother, James Brian.

Surviving are his siblings: Michael, Corning, N.Y.; Martin (Barbara), Bunker Hill, W.V.; Neal (Dina), East Stroudsburg; Marce Readler (Kevin), Wapwallopen; nieces and nephews: Matthew, Megan, Morgan, Luke, Doran, Cecelia, Dillon, Brionna and Madison.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Church, Dorrance. Interment will follow in the Memorial Shrine Cemetery. Friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top.

A special thank you for the wonderful care he received for the past 39 years, while residing at ReMed, who cared for him like family.

May Ed rest in peace as he lays to rest. My thoughts and prayers to the Gallagher family. I had the honor and privilege to work with Ed while he was at ReMed (Devon Road). I felt heartbroken on this sad news, but I know he is in a better place with no pain or suffering. Ed always fought hard no matter what the doctors said. Ed always proved them wrong. Ed made me a better person and strive to work to my best ability not just for him, but for his housemates. I will always remember the great memories, the fun times, and the laughs he gave me and shared.

Love Always,
Joe Papa

My heart broke to hear the news of Ed´s passing . Ed was a courageous fighter living with his TBI for so many years. He was definitely a "fighting Irishman" and had a strong will to beat any medical challenges that he endured. Ed was a great survivor as his devoted parents , siblings and team never gave up on him. It was an honor and a privilege to be a part of Ed´s care over the years. I am certain that Ed always knew how much he was cared for and loved by all
With heartfelt sadness. Helen Carmine , former Clinical Director of Supported Living
