SANTA YNEZ, CALIFORNIA — Edward "Eb" Sherman, of Santa Ynez, California, passed away peacefully March 11, 2016, at Serenity House in Santa Barbara, California, with his family by his side.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre on April 26, 1931, to Joseph and Naomi (Jones) Sherman. After graduating from GAR High school, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Great Lakes. He worked for Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company for several years before starting his own heating business in 1972 after Hurricane Agnes flooded the region. In later years, he worked for Acme Markets Distribution Center.
Edward married Elissa (Bakun) Sherman Dec. 12, 1953, and they had three children together. Eb and Elissa recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. In 2002, Eb and Elissa moved to Santa Ynez, California, to be closer to their children living in the area.
Eb was preceded in death by his mother, father and siblings, James, Harold, Joseph, Emma and Loraine.
Survivors include his wife, Elissa; son, Wayne Sherman (Pamela); daughters, Justine Holmlund (Steve) and Terri Miller (Ron). Grandchildren include Jessica Smith, Jillian Marut, Kailey Holmlund, David Hungarter and Ryan Hungarter. Great-grandchildren include Rhett, Jack, Olivia, James, Luke and Matthew. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins living across the United States.
Eb will be remembered for his jovial spirit, sense of humor and loving devotion to his family.
A celebration of life will be held in Eb's honor at a date to be determined. Services in the care of Loper Funeral Chapel, California.

My sympathy to all of Ebbie's family. We called him Ebbie back in the late l930's and 40's in Wilkes-Barre.
Rest in peace Ebbie. I still remember those days.
