PALM COAST, Fla. — Edward Tutak Jr., of 8 Montauk Court, Palm Coast, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on March 16, 2021, at 2 p.m.
Edward was born on June 21, 1925, in Wyoming Valley to the late Edward and Stella Tutak Sr. He served his nation honorably in two wars; as a Yeoman second class aboard the LST 375 during WWII and as an Ensign during the Korean War at the Philadelphia Naval Yard. He reached the rank of Lt. Jg. while serving in the Reserve.
He received both his bachleor's and master's degrees from New York University, where he was a member of the baseball team. He and his wife, Rosalinde, served in an educational diplomatic mission to Turkey from 1954 to 1957. During that assignment, he was instrumental in the development of the first typewriter keyboard of the Turkish language. He then worked at Sewanhaka High School District until 1981, where he retired as Assistant Superintendent of Business.
He was a dedicated family man and patriot who played baseball on a championship Naval team during WWII, with Capt. Muller of Tampa Bay, Fla., (St. Louis Cardinal's) and in the "Sand Lot" Leagues of Brooklyn upon his return from war. He loved bridge and the Palm Coast Bridge Club.
Edward is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Grace Tutak, of Palm Coast, Fla.; grandchildren, Hannah Tutak, of New Orleans, La., and Edward Zachariah Tutak and his wife Anna, of St. Augustine, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Raegan and Taylie Tutak, of St. Augustine, Fla.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations and one hour prior to the service at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, March 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Palm Coast, Fla.
