Elizabeth Tighe, 91, of Pittston, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2025, at the Highland Manor Nursing Facility in Exeter.
Born Jan. 20, 1934, in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Margaret (Wascavage) Tighe.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Pittston Hospital Nursing School with a long career helping people in the nursing field. She worked initially for the Columbus Hospital System in Newark, N.J., and later at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, where she was chief operating nurse prior to retirement.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Tighe, Rose Hogan, and Ann Moses; and brothers, Leo and George Tighe; along with nephews, Leo Jr., Daniel, and Lee Tighe.
Surviving are sister, Patricia Bryan, Jessup; and brother, James Tighe, Duryea; along with many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main St., Pittston. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church for visitation prior to the Mass. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Pittston, following the Mass. All services will be from the church. Arrangements are being managed by Paul F. Leonard Funeral Home, Pittston.
