Hazel Southwell Obituary

Hazel Southwell, 92, of Luzerne, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at Maple Ridge Healthcare Center, Kingston.

She was born Nov. 19, 1932, in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late John and Hazel Reilly Pope. She attended Luzerne schools and was formerly employed in the local garment industry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Southwell; daughter, Linda Azain; and granddaughter, Robin Malia.

Surviving are her grandson, Robert Malia; great-grandchildren: Robert, Dylan, Josiah, Elijah, Asher and Da'Mya; sister, Isabelle Hoskins; and brothers: Michael Pope and Joseph Pope.

Friends may call from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Ltd., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
