Irene Stanton Obituary

Irene Stanton, of Scranton, died Monday, October 4, 2010, in the Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit after an illness. Her husband, William Stanton, died in 1974. Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Pauline Martinkovitch Kloss. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Hill Neighborhood Association. Irene was preceded in death by brother Charles Kloss and sister Ruth Spence. Surviving are daughter Sharon Lieback, Hughestown; son-in-law Peter Sr.; sisters, Marian Solt, Levittown, Pa., Catherine Norieka, Lake Winola, Pa., Dorothy Williams, Grantville, Pa., Florence Ryan, Scranton, and Rose Starry, Levittown; grandchildren, William, Peter Jr., Kerri and Mark Lieback; great-grandchildren Anthony, Hailey, Josalyn and Jhett; as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton. Anyone attending the funeral is asked to go directly to the church. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St., Scranton. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

I didn't know Irene Stanton, but we share the same name. She sounds like someone who was very much loved and my sympathy goes out to
