Irene T. Wojciechowicz

Our angel, Irene T. Wojciechowicz, 80, of Creek Street, Mocanaqua, passed on to the Lord on Sunday, December 13, 2009. Born May 31, 1929, in Mocanaqua, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Charnogorsky) Kubasek. She was first employed by the former cigar plant in Berwick, then by the former Duplan Silk Mill, Berwick. She was last employed and retired from the former Country Cousins Shoe Factory, Mocanaqua. She was a member of Ascension Church, Mocanaqua, and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She was a very loving and religious person and devoted to her faith. She loved to do arts and crafts and made crafts for area nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Wojciechowicz, who died September 17, 2000; a son, David W. Wojciechowicz, who died July 8, 1996; a daughter, Diane Wojciechowicz, who died October 24, 1974; brothers John, Michael, Joseph, Laurence and Frank Kubasek; and a sister, Sophie Ulichney. Surviving are a daughter, Karen Bonham and husband Michael, Mocanaqua; daughter-in-law, Sue Wojciechowicz-Beaver and husband, Brett, Mocanaqua; grandchildren, Jodi Thompson and husband Steve, Jaclyn, Jolene and Ryan Wojciechowicz and David Wojciechowicz Jr.; a brother, Anthony Kubasek, Mocanaqua; a sister, Kathryn Dalto, Berwick; and many nieces and nephews. She was adored by her grandchildren and loved by all. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at 9:30 a.m. at the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Ascension Church, Mocanaqua, with her pastor, Rev. Stephen Krawontka, as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
