HANOVER TWP. — James Harold Brunn, of the Hampton House, Hanover Township, formerly of East Spring Street, Nanticoke, entered eternal life on Thursday, June 21, 2018.
James was born Jan. 2, 1936, in Hanover Township. His family moved to Nanticoke and he graduated from Blooomsburg State Teachers College (now known as Bloomsburg University) with a degree in English education. He continued his education and earned his Master of Arts degree in English from Pennsylvania State University, University Park.
James taught various subjects in elementary, middle and high school and most of his teaching career was spent in the Manville School District, Manville, N.J. He was an avid sports fan: he especially rooted for the New York Yankees, the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to name a few. He enjoyed raising English springer spaniels, as well.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Brunn (nee: Morgan); father Henry; and two brothers, Herman, of Manville, N.J., and Edward, of Blakeslee Corner.
James is survived by two nieces, Mary, of Manville, N.J., and Frances Brzycki, of Estero, Fla; and one nephew, Dr. James E. Brunn, of Manville, N.J. He also is the great-uncle to Dr. Ryan Brzycki, of Ohio, Kyle Brzycki, of Hillsborough, N.J., and James Robert Brunn and Ann Brunn, of Manville, N.J.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, from the Lehman Family Funeral Service Inc., 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with interment following in Maple Hill Cemetery, next to his mother.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
