James Dente Obituary

James P. 'Chippy' Dente, 97, a resident of Pittston Manor and formerly of West Pittston, died Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Golden Living East Mountain Center. Born in West Pittston on May 2, 1913, he was a son of the late Rafael and Rafaella Dente. An avid golfer, Chippy was a longtime member of the Emanon Country Club and participated in the John Allan Tournament at Fox Hill Country Club for many years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served under General Patton in both North Africa and Italy. Chippy was a kind and gentle soul who will be fondly remembered by both friends and family. The family would like to thank the entire staff at both the Pittston Manor and Golden Living Center for the compassionate care that was provided. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ridley; and four brothers, John, Joseph, Carmen and Gerard. Chippy is survived by a cousin; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from the Recupero Funeral Home, 406 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. Interment will take place in West Pittston Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
