James Fisher Obituary

J ames E. Fisher, 80, of Alexandria Township, N.J., passed away on Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at his home.
Born June 10, 1926, in Larksville, Pa., he lived in Trenton and Flemington before moving to Alexandria Township in 1963.
James served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady of Victories R.C. Church in Baptistown and sang in the choir.
He graduated from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and English.
He was a teacher at the Delaware Township Elementary School in Sergeantsville, and then taught at the Youth Correctional Institution in Annandale for over 25 years before retiring in 1988. James was a member of the Frenchtown American Legion Fidelity Post 113.
He enjoyed playing the piano and gardening.
A son of the late Cornelius and Mary (Kilpatrick) Fisher, he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia (Stellmah) Fisher; two sons Michael of Melrose, Mass., and Patrick of Mountain Lakes, N.J.; three daughters, Laurie Fisher of North Carolina; Jenine LaFevre of Holland Township, N.J.; and Theresa Szeplaki of Bath, Pa.; a brother John Fisher of Tennessee; six grandchildren Patrick, Matthew and Daniel, Houston, Adam and Charlotte.
He was predeceased by four brothers Joseph, Neil, Ambrose and William; and two sisters, Elizabeth Jean Jameson and Marie Wright.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, at 9:30 a.m. at the. Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, N.J., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Baptistown. Interment with military honors will be at St. Magdalen’s Cemetery, Flemington, N.J. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kingwood Township Rescue Squad, PO Box 89, Baptistown, NJ 08803; or Our Lady of Victories RC Church, PO Box 127, Baptistown, NJ 08803.
