James Hankey Obituary

James E. Hankey, 59, of 4th Street, West Pittston, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in Hospice Community Care, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born in West Pittston, he was a son of the former Helen Miller, of Hanover Township and the late George Hankey.
He was a graduate of West Pittston High School, Class of 1966, and attended Luzerne County Community College.
Mr. Hankey was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam. He was employed by JC Penney for 13 years and prior to his retirement, he was employed at the State Correctional Institution, Hunlock Creek.
After retirement he worked for The Times Leader as an independent contractor.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, the former Margaret Williams; brother, Ronald and his wife, Judy and their two children, of Swoyersville; sister, Judy Cuinus and her son, of Hanover Township; other friends who loved Jim, Mike Williams and his wife, Cindy and their children, of Forty Fort, Irene Smith and her son, of Hanover Township, Ann Wiliams, of West Wyoming; two other brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. from the Metcalfe & Shaver Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with the Rev. Jeffery Klansek, of the First Baptist Church of Wyoming, officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Community Care, 601 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, PA 18704.
