Jeffrey Garber Obituary

NEWTON — Jeffrey "Jeff" Garber, 65, of Newtown, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 2, 2016. He was the loving husband and best friend to his wife of 38 years, Carla (Rossi) Garber.

Jeff is survived by his four children, Melanie Evert (Scott), Danielle Leach (Chris), Jeffrey (Larissa) and Christopher. Jeff will be dearly and forever missed by his six grandchildren, Kirsten, Matthew, Andrew, Caroline, Vivienne and most especially by his best buddy, Wyatt.

Jeff was the son of the late Herbert A. Garber and Eva (Smouse) Garber. He grew up in Huntingdon, along with his three younger brothers, Herbie (deceased), Harold and Donnie and one sister, Susie (deceased). After high school, Jeff joined the U.S. Army and ultimately became a proud member of the prestigious 82nd Airborne. He served his country from 1967-1970. Jeff retired from Martech Medical three years ago, where he worked as a building maintenance mechanic. In his early years he was the owner of Warm-Up Insulation as well as Classic Deli. Jeff's greatest love, next to his family, was the outdoors. He loved nature and being in the mountains, and his favorite place on earth was Glacier National Park. He loved to travel, but his destinations were always off the beaten path and in search of places never explored.

Relatives and friends are invited to Jeffrey's life celebration 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at Swartz-Givnish Funeral Home, 323 Washington Ave., Newtown, (215)-968-3891 and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, with a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. The Rite of Committal will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. To share your fondest memory of Jeff, please www.visitlifecelebration.com.

To the Garber family. I never had the pleasure of meeting you but I worked with Jeff for over 10 years. I was so sorry to hear about his passing. He was a wonderful man. I remember when he spoke about his family how his face would light up with happiness and pride. I am honored to have known him and to call him my friend.

To the Garber family, I was so saddened to hear about Jeff. I didn't know you but I worked with Jeff for at least 10 years. He was a wonderful man, husband and friend. Jeff was so proud of his family and his face would light up when talking about you. He will be missed terribly. I was honored to know him.
